Sealant Injection Fitting. The sealant injection fitting is one of our valve fittings used in feeding lubricants or grease into valve parts for repair or maintenance. These are primarily designed to provide a periodic injection of lubricant or sealants into pipeline valves. The materials we produce include stainless steel 316, carbon steel 4140 zinc plated, and Alloys. In the Oil& Gas segment, most ball valves have two sealant injection fittings, generally, one is located at the stem area and the other at the seating area. This is one of our major applications that fit the API pressure class of 10,000psi.

Sealant injection fittings of ball valve are installed at the stem and seat area. They can act as temporary sealing. When the soft sealing is damaged and a leakage happens because of fire accidents, the grease or sealant can be injected through sealant or lubricant injection fitting. The injected sealant works as a temporary sealing to prevent further leakage.

But it should bear in mind that the sealant injection system is only for emergency use. The action of injecting grease through sealant injection fittings increases risks of further damage to the ball valve seat by attracting more grease and debris.

The sealant injection system of ball valve plays a part as the emergency sealing or backup sealing when soft sealing rings damage (seat inserts and o-rings) by accident. That means sealant injection system only function for emergency or temporary use, not for permanent sealing purpose.

We use grease gun to inject sealant from two fittings near stem and seat. Apparently, stem injection is to prevent stem leakage and the seat injection is for temporary sealing between ball and seat.

But we should always bear in mind that sealant should not be injected randomly, but it should be used as a last resort. The reason is sticky sealant injected will attract more particles to further damage valve sealing.
